Size and depth
State dimensions or standard size, and depth if unusually thick. Include a topper separately rather than assuming the mattress description covers it.
SPECIALIST CLEANING · OXFORD
A practical plan for the bed you use.
A mattress is thick, layered and not easy to dry in a hurry. Share its type, size, label and the issue you want addressed. Useful questions include which method suits the construction, which faces are included and when the bed can be used again.

START WITH THE DETAILS
Memory foam, sprung and hybrid mattresses are built differently. Manufacturer instructions may limit moisture and handling, and some mattresses are designed for use on one side only. Photograph the label and describe removable covers. A zip does not mean a cover is washable. Attached pillow tops and separate toppers should also be identified, because a general bed size does not explain the layers involved.
Be specific about smells and marks. Explain whether a spill reached the mattress, when it happened and what was tried afterwards. Cleaning cannot correct sagging, broken springs or a deteriorating foam core. Persistent damp needs its cause addressed rather than reliance on a surface clean. Do not treat cleaning as a medical or pest-control service.

PLAN THE WORK
Confirm the proposed method and reachable faces in the quotation. Preparation and drying are part of planning this appointment, particularly if the mattress is used every night.
State dimensions or standard size, and depth if unusually thick. Include a topper separately rather than assuming the mattress description covers it.
Share foam, sprung or hybrid details and manufacturer guidance. Mention one-sided designs, attached pillow tops and care restrictions.
Agree top, sides and underside where suitable. Lifting and turning need discussion; do not assume every mattress can be flipped or bent.
Describe source, age and previous products. Ask what can be assessed without expecting a guaranteed health outcome or removal of every old mark.
HOW IT WORKS
Mattress type and manufacturer limits guide suitability. Existing damp, damage and cover construction should be flagged before a treatment is selected.
Ask which method is proposed, how much moisture it involves and which faces are covered. Frame design, lifting and narrow stairs can affect access.
Arrange other sleeping space if needed. A dry-feeling top is not the only consideration; follow advice for the construction and avoid replacing bedding too soon.

BEFORE THE VISIT
Strip bedding and the protector. Clear bedside objects and a route to the bed. Keep the mattress on its usual base unless movement is agreed; a large mattress is awkward to lift and should not be bent or turned against manufacturer instructions.
Send close photos of marks and a wider image showing location. Discuss ventilation and the next intended use of the bed before booking. Toppers, pillows and the base are separate items. List them if you want their care considered, rather than assuming the appointment covers everything on the bed.
A mattress protector is useful information, too. Explain whether the spill passed through it or whether the concern is limited to the cover. Keep the protector separate after stripping the bed and follow its own label rather than assuming mattress care also covers laundering.
If the bed is adjustable or the mattress is tightly fitted into a frame, send a photo of that arrangement. Access to side faces can be limited, and lifting may be awkward. Agree the reachable surfaces so the quotation reflects the bed as it actually stands.
PRICES & QUOTATIONS
Share size, construction, photos and the surfaces requested. Deep pillow-top mattresses and thin guest-bed mattresses may need different planning. Mention a topper and restricted access upstairs. Explain lifting needs instead of expecting them to be obvious from the bed size.
Confirm scope, movement and recommended time before use. Upholstered frames, headboards and protectors need separate mention. Ask for cleaning inclusions and limitations; pest treatment, medical claims and internal repairs should not be assumed within the price.

GOOD TO KNOW
Questions about size and depth, construction.
Share manufacturer instructions first. Foam may have restrictions on moisture and handling. Ask whether the proposed method fits that mattress instead of judging suitability from its size alone.
Discuss this before choosing a date. Construction, method and room conditions affect drying. Arrange alternative sleeping space if advised, and do not replace bedding simply because the top feels dry.
Confirm faces in the quote. Some mattresses are one-sided and should not be turned for ordinary use. Lifting and access must be agreed separately for a large or heavy piece.
Cause, age and earlier treatment affect the result. Some changes are permanent and surface care may not reach a deep spill. Explain what happened and ask for a realistic assessment.
Do not treat cleaning as pest control or medical treatment. If pests are suspected, discuss that separately before booking. No health outcome should be assumed from a cleaning appointment.
